Plagiarism Policy

Ved International Journal of Yoga & Allied Sciences (VIJYAS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, research ethics, and scholarly publishing. The journal follows a strict plagiarism screening policy to ensure that all submitted manuscripts are original, authentic, and properly referenced.

All manuscripts submitted to VIJYAS are screened using plagiarism detection software and reviewed by the editorial team before being sent for peer review. Authors are expected to uphold ethical research and publication practices throughout the submission process.

Understanding Plagiarism

Plagiarism refers to the use of another person's ideas, words, data, images, research findings, or intellectual work without proper acknowledgment or citation. It also includes the unauthorized reuse of one's own previously published material, commonly known as self-plagiarism.

Duplicate Publication

Duplicate publication occurs when:

  • The same or substantially similar manuscript is submitted to more than one journal.

  • Previously published work is republished without appropriate citation or permission.

  • Authors engage in "salami publication" by dividing a single study into multiple papers with minimal additional contribution.

Plagiarism Screening Before Publication

All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening before entering the peer-review process.

Similarity Threshold

  • Up to 10% Similarity: Generally acceptable, provided all sources are properly cited.

  • 10%–15% Similarity: Authors may be requested to revise the manuscript and improve citations.

  • More than 20% Similarity: The manuscript may be rejected without further review.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to make final decisions based on the nature and extent of the similarity detected.

Author Responsibilities

By submitting a manuscript to VIJYAS, authors confirm that:

  • The manuscript is original and has not been published elsewhere.

  • The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal or publication.

  • All sources, references, and supporting materials have been properly cited.

  • The manuscript does not contain plagiarized, fabricated, falsified, or duplicated content.

  • Necessary permissions have been obtained for copyrighted materials.

Forms of Plagiarism

Direct Plagiarism

Copying text word-for-word from another source without quotation marks or proper citation.

Improper Attribution

Using another author's ideas, concepts, or findings without acknowledging the original source.

Figure and Table Plagiarism

Reproducing figures, tables, charts, diagrams, illustrations, or images without permission and citation.

Internet Plagiarism

Copying material from websites, blogs, online databases, or digital resources without proper acknowledgment.

Visual Content Misappropriation

Using photographs, graphics, artwork, or other visual materials without appropriate attribution.

Self-Plagiarism

Reusing substantial portions of one's own previously published work without citation or disclosure.

Previously Published Work in Another Language

If a manuscript is based on work previously published in another language, authors must:

  • Provide complete details of the original publication.

  • Obtain any required copyright permissions.

  • Clearly disclose that the manuscript is a translated or adapted version of previously published work.

The Editorial Board may consider such submissions if they contribute to wider dissemination of scholarly knowledge.

Citation and Paraphrasing Requirements

Authors are required to:

  • Cite all sources accurately and consistently.

  • Use quotation marks when directly quoting text.

  • Properly paraphrase information in their own words while acknowledging the original source.

  • Follow the journal's prescribed referencing style.

Use of Theses, Dissertations, and Conference Papers

Authors may submit manuscripts derived from:

  • Doctoral Theses

  • Master's Dissertations

  • Conference Proceedings

  • Research Project Reports

However, appropriate acknowledgment and citation of the original source must be provided.

Research Integrity in Yoga and Allied Sciences

Since VIJYAS publishes research across Yoga and Allied Sciences, authors should ensure proper acknowledgment of:

  • Yogic texts and traditional knowledge sources.

  • Research instruments, questionnaires, and assessment tools.

  • Clinical protocols and therapeutic interventions.

  • Health and wellness datasets.

  • Exercise, fitness, and sports science methodologies.

  • Psychological scales and measurement instruments.

  • Ayurvedic, naturopathic, and complementary healthcare references.

Consequences of Plagiarism

Depending upon the severity of the violation, the journal may take one or more of the following actions:

Minor Plagiarism

  • Request revision and proper citation before further consideration.

Major Plagiarism

  • Immediate rejection of the manuscript.

Repeated Ethical Violations

  • Temporary or permanent restriction from future submissions.

Post-Publication Discovery

  • Publication of corrections.

  • Formal retraction of the article.

  • Notification to the author's institution when deemed necessary.
